THE SHAPE OF TIME

or How to Slow and Stop Time

by Jack Bowman 2006 ©

REAL TIME would be time that exists without artificial measurements. This is the time we become aware of while visiting Plato's Cave in Color.

In my early studies of afterimages (about ten years ago) I noticed that they did float away and that by concentrating on the dot or a point you could prevent them from floating away. Until I began exploring "Plato's Cave in Color" I didn't know the nature of their movement. While exploring the Cave I realized that there was a time, distance, and direction relationship in their movement.

Movement Measurements - 17 October 2006

The NATURAL MOVEMENT is approximately 3/4" in 5 seconds at one foot.

The NATURAL MOVEMENT is approximately 18" in 5 seconds at ten feet.

At one foot the speed is .15 inches per second. At ten feet the speed is 3.6 inches per second. I see no correlation between the speed at one foot and the speed at ten feet. If we take this common way of measuring (distance moved and time elapsed) there may be no relationship and we may have to look at the afterimages themselves to find one.

HOW TO STOP TIME

There was a dot on the card so I could concentrate on it when I wanted. At one foot I slowed the movement by having it move only 3/8" of an inch and on another try I stopped the movement completely.  THIS IS STOPPED TIME.  This is done by concentrating on the dot.

Stephen."I was taking these photos with an 8X10 pin hole camera. I used some Army surplus chloride paper that supposedly expired in 1943. The exposures were six or so hours in length. After taking a few photos, I realized that there was a previously undiscovered dimension of time I called slow time.

Slow time is time where things move at a rate slower than man can perceive. Things move all the same, but we cannot detect it with our evolutionary senses. Zarathrustra can function in slow time, but we cannot. To biological man, slow time is as elusive as the atom because it is beyond our senses.

Strangely enough, the stone also would not know that we exist. We are moving much too fast for his senses to detect. It is much like a bullet flying past us. We cannot perceive its existence because it is just too fast.

The stone also is caught in its own dimension. The stone would see things move only if they moved at slow rates. Perhaps an inch each day, or an inch each year, or thousands of years.

This dimension of "slow time" is running parallel with our dimension of time called normal time. However, the slow time world is not our world. In fact, we don't even exist in the slow time dimension, or at least we cannot be perceived to exist. Our metabolic rate is too fast. We move too much.
