CRACK IN THE MIRROR

AUDIENCE CHARACTER FOR THE RED QUEEN

Crack in the Mirror

There is a need to tie the audience closer to the performance. There is one tie in the character of Dr. Jack when he attempts to get the audience to see the after images they project from their mind onto the stage. However, an additional Documentary Still Photographer is needed and this character can be used to make a direct link from the audience to the stage.  This person will be lightly costumed and will not be on the stage. He/She will be in the audience taking pictures and saying "Look at the mirror".  He/She will repeat this three times. The first time will be toward the audience and He/She will take a flash photo of the audience. The second time will be toward the stage and He/She will take a flash photo of the stage. The third time will be again toward the audience and He/She will take a flash photo of the audience. The "Crack in the Mirror" will continue to take photographic documents of the performance until it ends.

The reason for this character is that the performance scene is taken from the 2nd chapter of "Through the Looking Glass". This is the first mirror relationship. The second relationship is that contemporary culture and thought appears to be only a reflection of our lurid past as a civilized group and not reality or what we really are. The third relationship is that the photograph itself is a mirror. The fourth relationship is that artists are attempting to put a crack in the mirrored image that is reflected to us and therefore allow us to see the true reality.
